3. Beverages#

This Clan deals with samples of beverages such as cocoa, tea, coffee and similar hot drinks. It does not include water, alcoholic drinks, fruit juices, fruit drinks and soft drinks which are specifically categorised elsewhere.

3.1. Cocoa and Cocoa Preparations#

Coffee – Essence Type has been retired as such products are not being sampled in sufficient numbers to justify them being separately categorised. Any products that would previously have been included in this type should now be included in Coffee – Other type.

Coffee and Chicory Mixtures

Coffee and Chicory Mixtures Type has been retired as such products are not being sampled in sufficient numbers to justify them being separately categorised. Any products that would previously have been included in this type should now be included in Coffee – Other type.

Coffee and Fig Mixtures

Coffee - Beans

Coffee – Other Type is for other products which are characterised by the presence of coffee and which cannot be more appropriately categorised elsewhere. It include liquid coffee essences coffee/chicory and coffee/fig mixtures (for which the specific types have been retired) and also for products consisting of coffee with other ingredients such as sugar and/or milk powder which are intended to produce a complete beverage by the addition of water.

Tea – Herbal Type is for those products which are intended to be infused and drunk as a beverage but which do not consist of the dried leaves of the tea bush. This type includes peppermint tea, camomile tea and teas made from fruits. It does not include products which include the dried leaves of the tea bush mixed with other ingredients; these products should be classified in the Tea – Other type.

Tea - Instant

Tea – Instant Type is for products which are intended to be used as a hot beverage by the addition of water.

Tea - Other

Tea – Other Type is for products which consist of the dried leaves of the tea bush mixed with other ingredients.
