3. Beverages

This Clan deals with samples of beverages such as cocoa, tea, coffee and similar hot drinks. It does not include water, alcoholic drinks, fruit juices, fruit drinks and soft drinks which are specifically categorised elsewhere.

3.1. Cocoa and Cocoa Preparations

Cocoa / Chocolate Drinks - Other	Cocoa / Chocolate Drinks - Other	03.01.99.99	Cocoa / Chocolate Drinks – other Type is to be used for cocoa-based products that cannot be properly categorised in the preceding two types.

3.2. Coffee and Tea

3.2.1. Coffee

Coffee - Ground	03.02.01.01	Coffee – Ground Type for coffee beans which have simply been ground. It should no longer include decaffeinated ground coffee for which a new type has been created.
Coffee - Instant	03.02.01.02	Coffee – Instant Type is for prepared coffee which is intended to be used as a hot beverage by the addition of water. It should not include decaffeinated instant coffee for which a new type has been created.
Coffee - Essence	03.02.01.03	Coffee – Essence Type has been retired as such products are not being sampled in sufficient numbers to justify them being separately categorised. Any products that would previously have been included in this type should now be included in Coffee – Other type.
Coffee and Chicory Mixtures	03.02.01.04	Coffee and Chicory Mixtures Type has been retired as such products are not being sampled in sufficient numbers to justify them being separately categorised. Any products that would previously have been included in this type should now be included in Coffee – Other type.
Coffee and Fig Mixtures	03.02.01.05	Coffee and Fig Mixtures Type has been retired as such products are not being sampled in sufficient numbers to justify them being separately categorised. Any products that would previously have been included in this type should now be included in Coffee – Other type.
Coffee - Beans	03.02.01.06	Coffee – Beans Type should be used for coffee beans which have not been ground. It should no longer include decaffeinated coffee beans for which a new type has been created.
Coffee - Instant, Decaffeinated	03.02.01.07	Coffee - Instant, Decaffeinated Type is for prepared coffee which is intended to be used as a hot beverage by the addition of water and which has been decaffeinated.
Coffee - Ground, Decaffeinated	03.02.01.08	Coffee - Ground, Decaffeinated Type is for coffee beans which have been ground and which have also been decaffeinated.
Coffee - Beans, Decaffeinated	03.02.01.09	Coffee - Beans, Decaffeinated Type is for coffee beans which have been decaffeinated.
Coffee - Other	03.02.01.99	Coffee – Other Type is for other products which are characterised by the presence of coffee and which cannot be more appropriately categorised elsewhere. It include liquid coffee essences coffee/chicory and coffee/fig mixtures (for which the specific types have been retired) and also for products consisting of coffee with other ingredients such as sugar and/or milk powder which are intended to produce a complete beverage by the addition of water.

3.2.2. Tea

Tea - Leaf	03.02.02.01	Tea – Leaf Type is for the dried leaves of the tea bush that are sold as such and not sold as tea bags.
Tea - Bags	03.02.02.02	Tea – Bags Type is for dried leaves of the tea bush that are sold as tea bags.
Tea - Herbal	03.02.02.03	Tea – Herbal Type is for those products which are intended to be infused and drunk as a beverage but which do not consist of the dried leaves of the tea bush. This type includes peppermint tea, camomile tea and teas made from fruits. It does not include products which include the dried leaves of the tea bush mixed with other ingredients; these products should be classified in the Tea – Other type.
Tea - Instant	03.02.02.04	Tea – Instant Type is for products which are intended to be used as a hot beverage by the addition of water.
Tea - Other	03.02.02.99	Tea – Other Type is for products which consist of the dried leaves of the tea bush mixed with other ingredients.

3.3. Other Beverages

It is NOT to be used for water, alcoholic drinks, fruit juices, fruit drinks and soft drinks which are specifically categorised elsewhere.
