Cakes With Dairy Cream

Cakes With Dairy Cream Type is to be used for cakes that include dairy cream or are thought to contain dairy cream, whether or not labelled as such.

Cakes With Non-Dairy Cream

Cakes With Non-Dairy Cream Type is to be used for cakes which contain non-dairy cream such as buttercream or manufactured artificial cream.

Cakes Without Cream

Cakes Without Cream Type is to be used for cakes such as fruit cake, madeira cake, battenburg, gingerbread and all similar cakes without cream present. This type does not include biscuits, scones etc, bakery products, fruit pies and tarts.

Cheesecake

Cheesecake Type is to be used for products described as such.

Cake - Other

Cake – Other Type is only to be used for products that cannot be properly fitted into the cakes with / without cream types. This type does not include biscuits, scones etc, bakery products, fruit pies and tarts. Prepared cake mix, pancake mix and similar products should be included here.

Confectionery

Chocolate - Plain

Chocolate – Plain Type is to be used for products that comply with the definition in the appropriate regulations and which consist of plain chocolate only and does not contain any other type of food.

Chocolate - Milk

Chocolate – Milk Type is to be used for products that comply with the definition in the appropriate regulations and which consist of milk chocolate only and does not contain any other type of food.

Chocolate - Other

Chocolate – Other Type is to be used for all other types of chocolate and in particular for white chocolate and couverture chocolate.

Confectionery - Chocolate

Confectionery – Chocolate Type is to be used for products which consist of chocolate and other types of food including filled chocolates and chocolate liqueurs. It does not include chocolate coated fruits such as chocolate raisins which should be categorised as fruits. Easter eggs which consist of a chocolate “egg” alone should be included in the plain, milk or other chocolate types above as appropriate; filled easter eggs with other foods included in the chocolate such as Crème Eggs should be included in this type. Easter eggs which consist of a chocolate egg and separate sweets should be considered as two separate entities and recorded as two samples and allocated appropriate types for each part.

Sweets Type consists of all types of sweets that do not include chocolate and which are not more appropriately included in the sugar confectionery type below. It includes boiled sweets, marshmallows etc

Confectionery - Sugar

Confectionery – Sugar Type consists of products where the main ingredient is sugar such as toffee / tablet, fudge.

Confectionery - Products, Other

Confectionery - Products, Other Type is to be used only for confectionery products that cannot be more appropriately categorised elsewhere.

Chocolate Spread

Chocolate Spread Type is to be used for products which include chocolate as ingredient and which may be spread.

Chocolate Substitute

Chocolate Substitute Type is to be used for products which do not consist of chocolate but which are intended to be used in place of chocolate. It should not be used for couverture chocolate
