8. Fish and Shellfish

8.1. Family 8.01 – Fish and Shellfish – Fresh and Frozen

It does not include kippers or similar fish which by definition have been smoked as part of their production process.
	Fish – Raw / Pickled	08.01.01.03	Fish - Raw / Pickled Type has been retired.
	Fish – Raw – Ready to Eat	08.01.01.04	Fish - Raw - Ready to Eat Type is for fish which have not been subjected to a cooking process and are intended for consumption in the raw state. It includes products such as Sushi
	Fish – Raw – Pickled	08.01.01.05	Fish – Raw - Pickled Type is for fish which have not been subjected to a cooking process but which have been pickled. It includes products such as rollmop and pickled herring.
Fresh and Frozen Shellfish	Shellfish Fresh – In Shell	08.01.02.01	Shellfish Fresh – In Shell Type is for shellfish that are still in shell and which may have been kept on ice after catching but which have not been subjected to any further processing including freezing.
	Shellfish Fresh – Peeled	08.01.02.02	Shellfish Fresh - Peeled Type is for shellfish that have been removed from their shell and which may also have been cooked ready for consumption but which have not been frozen
	Shellfish Frozen - In Shell	08.01.02.03	Shellfish Frozen - In Shell Type is for shellfish which as well as having possibly been kept on ice after catching have also been frozen but which have not been subjected to any further processing.
	Shellfish Frozen - Peeled	08.01.02.04	Shellfish Frozen – Peeled Type is for shellfish that have been removed from their shell and which may also have been cooked ready for consumption but which have been frozen.

Fish Cakes	Fish Cakes	08.02.03.01	Fish Cakes Type is for the product consists of fish and potato which is formed into a patty and coated, normally in breadcrumb.
Fish Fingers	Fish Fingers	08.02.04.01	Fish Fingers Type is for the product formed from fish pieces and shaped into a “finger” and coated in batter or breadcrumbs.
Scampi	Scampi - Coated, Made from Wholetails	08.02.05.01	Scampi - Coated, Made from Wholetails Type is to be used for products which consist of a single whole tail of scampi which is coated in batter or breadcrumbs. It is not to be used for products which consist of two or more tails or which consist of pieces of scampi flesh or minced scampi.
	Scampi - Coated, Made from Pieces	08.02.05.02	Scampi - Coated, Made from Pieces Type is to be used for products which consist of two or more whole tails of scampi or of discrete pieces of scampi flesh which are formed together and then coated in batter or breadcrumbs. It is not to be used for products which contain any minced scampi.
	Scampi - Coated , Made from Mince	08.02.05.03	Scampi - Coated , Made from Mince Type is to be used for product which consist of minced scampi or pieces of scampi which are so small as to be equivalent to minced scampi. The mince and small pieces are then formed together and coated with batter or breadcrumb.
Fish Paste and Spreads	Fish - Paste and Spreads	08.02.06.01	Fish - Paste and Spreads Type is to be used for products consisting of fish and other ingredients which are formed into a smooth paste and is intended to be used by spreading onto bread or similar.
Fish Pate	Fish - Pate	08.02.07.01	Fish – Pate Type is to be used for products consisting of fish and other ingredients which are formed together.
Fish Roe	Caviar	08.02.08.01	Caviar Type is to be used for products consisting of the roe of sturgeon, lumpfish and similar fish.
	Taramasalata	08.02.08.02	Taramasalata Type has been retired as such products are not being sampled in sufficient numbers to justify them being separately categorised. Any samples of this should in future be included in the F ish Roe Other type.
	Fish - Roe, Other	08.02.08.99	Fish - Roe, Other Type is to be used for products such as taramasalata and cod roe
Canned Fish	Canned Salmon	08.02.09.01	Canned Salmon Type is to be used for salmon which has been prepared ready for consumption and which has been canned.
	Canned Tuna	08.02.09.02	Canned Tuna Type is to be used for tuna which has been prepared ready for consumption and which has been canned.
	Canned Sardines	08.02.09.03	Canned Sardines Type is to be used for sardines which have been prepared ready for consumption and which has been canned.
	Canned Pilchards	08.02.09.04	Canned Pilchards Type is to be used for pilchards which have been prepared ready for consumption and which has been canned.
	Canned Fish - Other	08.02.09.99	Canned Fish - Other Type is to be used for all other products where fish is the principal ingredient and which has been prepared ready for consumption and which has been canned.
Fish in Sauce	Fish - in Sauce	08.02.10.01	Fish - in Sauce Type is to be used for products which consist of fish with a sauce. It should not be used for canned fish of any type .
Smoked Fish	Fish - Smoked	08.02.11.01	Fish – Smoked Type has been retired as the smoked fish group has been expanded.
	Smoked Salmon	08.02.11.02	Smoked Salmon Type is to be used for fillets or pieces of salmon which have been subjected to a smoking process. It should not be used for smoked salmon pate or if the product has been canned.
	Smoked Mackerel	08.02.11.03	Smoked Mackerel Type is to be used for fillets or pieces of mackerel which have been subjected to a smoking process. It should not be used for smoked mackerel pate or if the product has been canned.
	Kippers / Smoked Herring	08.02.11.04	Kippers / Smoked Herring Type is to be used for fillets or pieces of herring which have been subjected to a smoking process. It should not be used for smoked herring pate or if the product has been canned.
	Smoked Fish – Other	08.02.11.99	Smoked Fish – Other Type is to be used for fillets or pieces of fish other than salmon, mackerel or herring which have been subjected to a smoking process. It should not be used for smoked fish pate or if the product has been canned.
Fish - MAP / Vacuum Packed	Fish – MAP/ Vacuum packed	08.02.12.01	Type to be used for whole fish, fish fillets or pieces which have been Modified Atmosphere or Vacuum Packed
